Mental Health Tips

How to achieve mental health and overcome mental illness?

Stress Management

Anger management

How to deal with anger?

Anger is one of human emotions. It has its values and functions. It motivates us to protect ourselves and to fight for our rights. However, if anger is not properly managed, it may lead to some physical and psychological problems. Therefore, it would be beneficial for us and for people around us to learn how to manage anger.

Positive Psychology

The more developed a society, the more intense feelings of loss and unhappiness within an individual. Developed society like the United States, Rates of depression are ten times higher today than they were in the 1960's. The average age for onset of depression also turns much younger. So, what can we do to make ourselves happier ? 这也是近年来“积极心理学”受到越来越多关注的原因之一.

Insomnia

Insomnia is a common problem in the society. A good sleep helps to restore our energy and cognitive function.

Overcoming grief and bereavement

Though death is an essential experience in life, facing the death of our loved ones inevitably brings emotional distress. Generally speaking, a normal bereavement does not require intervention by professional parties, but in some cases it may turn out to be a psychiatric disorder.

Eating disorders are a complex psychological illness and can be fatal as well. It's not as simple as being able to "do whatever you eat" and "do it yourself" as some have it。This is a painful secret about personal growth, confidence building, family relationships, stress management and other problems. The sense of loss of control and helplessness derived from emotional distress, coupled with various social misunderstandings, make many patients and their families hide their pain deeper and deeper, so that they miss many opportunities to receive treatment。

In order to dispel misconceptions and raise awareness of eating disorders in the community, the Eating Disorder Rehabilitation Society of Hong Kong will organise a series of training and promotion activities for volunteers。Trained volunteers will become "health promotion ambassadors" to participate in college and community promotion activities。Volunteers can also join different volunteer groups according to their own interests (e.g. press conferences, publications, exhibitions, etc.) to receive advanced volunteer training, so as to break the public's misunderstanding about the disease and help more people in need in the community。

Students who are interested in becoming "Health Promotion Ambassadors" should fill in the form online before April 15, 2021The application form,, or submit by fax or email *. The Hong Kong Eating Disorders Rehabilitation Association will confirm the application status by email。

In view of the unpredictable state of the Novel Coronavirus outbreak, the event may be subject to change in light of the situation. Updates will be notified by email。For enquiries, please call 2144-5757 or email (yvonneliang@heda-hk).Org) contact Ms Leung (Yvonne)。
